Small Farm, Big Dreams: Something Is Growing at Heathen Farms!
Heathen Farms Journal | October 24, 2026
What a year it's been here at Heathen Farms!

When we started building this little family farm, we knew it wasn't going to be easy. We knew there would be challenges, long days, setbacks, and plenty of lessons to learn along the way.
And boy, has 2026 delivered! 😂
We’re on Google Maps! it may not seem like much but seeing something we’ve worked so hard on, on google was exciting for us!
But looking back at everything we've accomplished in our first growing season, one thing has become clearer than ever:
Heathen Farms is becoming so much more than a place where we grow vegetables.
We're building something for our family, our children, and hopefully, one day, our entire community.
Our community project “The Neighbors Harvest” fence being installed around the bed that currently has foraged turnips and lentils as cover crops growing to prepare the soil for next growing season.
And we've got some pretty exciting things brewing for 2027!
⚔️ First Things First... THE GREAT LUFA OUTBREAK!
If you've been following our adventures, you've probably seen our family growing loofah gourds throughout the season.
Well, those loofahs are finally getting ready to make their official appearance in the Heathen Farms shop!
Our grow tent is currently full of drying Loofah Sponges! HOLY COW we grew a lot of them.
But of course, we couldn't just harvest some loofahs and sell them like normal people. 😂
Enter Butthead Muffin and the Lufa Protection Agency!
What started as a hilarious family adventure has turned into a whole new product experience featuring our homegrown natural loofahs, official LPA badge stickers designed by Violet, and QR codes connecting customers to the original family video.
And we're inviting everyone to join the fun!
🚨 THE GREAT LUFA OUTBREAK: OCTOBER 26 – NOVEMBER 9!
We'll be celebrating with special family bundles, discounted kids' activity worksheets, and more surprises through our online farm shop.
Even better, 15% of the net profits from this special promotion will be set aside for our Neighbor's Harvest Project, helping us prepare to grow food for local families in need next season.
Visit https://HeathenFarms.com to see the countdown and follow the outbreak!
🌻 Looking Ahead: Bigger Dreams for 2027
One Step at a time we’re growing no matter what!
Now, here's where things start getting interesting.
Throughout this first season, we've been learning what works, what doesn't, and what Heathen Farms could become with the right opportunities.
We've been dreaming about expanding our growing space, improving our infrastructure, increasing production, and creating more ways for families to experience agriculture firsthand.
And recently, a few possibilities have opened up that could help us take some pretty significant steps toward that vision.
We're exploring opportunities involving additional farmland, potential collaborations, and new ways to bring agriculture and community programs together.
Nothing is set in stone. There are conversations still to be had, details to work through, and plenty of planning ahead.
But for the first time, we're beginning to see possible paths toward things that once felt years away.
And that is incredibly exciting!
We're not ready to share all the details just yet, but believe us when we say:
If even part of what we're exploring comes together, 2027 could look very different for Heathen Farms. 🌱
❤️ Growing More Than Food
One of our proudest accomplishments this year hasn't been something we sold.
It's been watching our community programs begin to take shape.
Our Kids Grow Club has given us a chance to encourage children to get involved in growing food, learning practical skills, and discovering where their food comes from.
Our Neighbor's Harvest Project represents something even bigger: our commitment to eventually making fresh, locally grown produce more accessible to neighbors facing difficult times.
And we're only getting started.
As we look toward 2027, we want to build on both programs, create more learning opportunities, strengthen community relationships, and find ways to make our little farm a place where people can grow alongside us.
Because to us, farming has never been just about what we can harvest.
It's about what we can build together.
🛠️ A Farm That Keeps Growing
We're also working toward improving the day-to-day operations that will help make Heathen Farms sustainable for years to come.
Better storage, improved growing spaces, more efficient harvest handling, and new products that allow us to earn income beyond the traditional growing season are all part of the vision.
Our loofahs, children's coloring books, activity packets, and upcoming handmade products are just the beginning of that effort.
The goal is simple: build a farm that can support our family while continuing to serve the community around us.
It won't happen overnight.
And we're certainly not pretending to have everything figured out.
But we're making progress.
One seed, one project, one customer, and one opportunity at a time.
⚔️ The Best Is Still Ahead
Some of these products will also be hitting the website this winter!
If there's one thing 2026 has taught us, it's that building something meaningful takes patience, determination, and a willingness to keep going when things get difficult.
We've had our fair share of difficult moments this year.
But we've also experienced incredible kindness, made new connections, watched our children grow alongside the farm, and received support from people who genuinely believe in what we're trying to accomplish.
For that, we'll always be grateful.
So as we close out our first growing season and prepare for winter, keep an eye on Heathen Farms.
We've got loofahs to launch, new products in the works, community projects to prepare, and some potentially exciting expansion opportunities on the horizon.
2026 was about planting the roots.
2027? Well, we're hoping that's when some of those roots really start to grow. 🌱
Thank you for being part of this journey.
We can't wait to show you what comes next.
From our family to yours,
The Heathen Farms Family ⚔️🌱
